Settling In

Wow, it has been a long time since I posted last. But I guess that’s what happens when one is moving.

So, we now find ourselves in Utah close to my husband’s family. Very close. So close, in fact, we’re living with his brother’s family for the time being. The economy has been making it difficult to find a job, so we are staying with family until something turns up. We had to leave our apartment in Idaho because it was student only housing and since we’d graduated, we were no longer allowed to live there. Thankfully, we had family that was able to lend us a hand during these difficult times. Brian and Tracy (brother-in –law and his wife) have two children, a girl 5 and a boy 2. So that puts ten people under one roof!

The girls seem to be adjusting well to the change. We’ve been here for a week and they are settling into their routines quite well. Brian has a completely finished basement (that he did all by himself), so that is kind of our area. We are in charge of the housework down here and have our bedrooms, a bathroom and a family room. Tracy takes care of the upstairs living room, bedrooms and baths. We’ve setup a cooking and kitchen rotation so that everyone pitches in and no one is overwhelmed.

Tomorrow is our second Sunday in our new ward. I look forward to being of service here as the ward does not have a large amount of active members willing to hold callings. Monday is our first day of school. Read all about that at my homeschooling blog, The Homeschool Experiment.

Rebekah and Rose have enjoyed spending time and playing with their five year old cousin. They are not so keen on sharing a bed, but that’s how things have to be. I’m looking into local gymnastics and dance for them to join and get to know some new friends.

Rachel absolutely loves her two-year-old cousin. The two of them have become best buds and competitors in everything. It has really improved her speaking and sociability in just a week. I think this will do her a lot of good.

Robin also is enjoying the new housing situation. There is a lot more room to crawl around and she is making great use of it. We have to make sure the gate at the top of the stairs is always locked when upstairs now. She doesn’t get up on her knees to crawl yet, but she does a very fast army crawl. She’s also sitting up well and the chubbiest of our babies yet!
