An Easy Going Week

Robin had her two-month wellness check-up this week and received her first round of vaccines. In one visit, they vaccinate two month olds against eight diseases (Hepatitis B, Polio, Pneumococcal, Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis, Rotavirus and Hib). This is done via one oral liquid and three shots. So we’ve had a bit of a fussy baby afterwards, but she seemed to settle down with some Tylenol and is much happier now. Her check-up went well; the doctor says she is gaining weight great. I did ask about how much she sleeps (easily 18-20 hours each day) and he wasn’t too concerned. She was awake during the visit, smiling, cooing and wiggling. He thinks she is just a very mild mannered child and said not to worry as long as she interacts normally when awake and wakes up to eat regularly.

Rachel had a slow week, nothing much going on but wrecking the house as fast as Mommy can clean it (faster on days that Mommy was up all night while Robin and Rachel played tag team).

Rose’s class at school had a sledding party yesterday for about two hours. And the weather was perfect for it. It snowed all night the night before so that they had plenty of fresh snow, and flurried lightly all day. There was next to no wind and temperatures in the high 20’s for the party. Rose was very excited to show off her new snow tube that seats two, yet she managed to get four on it at a time. She’d squeeze three people onto the tube, and then the person that pushed them off at the top of the hill would hang on to the handle and slide down the hill on their tummy or back behind the tube. Needless to say, I had no problem getting Rose into bed that night.

Rebekah gave an oral book report this week at school. She did a report on The Spiderwick Chronicles: The Iron Wood Tree. She dressed up as one of the main characters (Malory – a fencer) and told her class about the book from Malory’s point of view. She refused any help from mom to get ready for the report and put together a costume all by herself.

Dad and I are rearranging bedrooms this weekend again. We are putting Rebekah back into the room with Rachel and Rose by putting the bunk bed back together. We’re also moving Robin’s crib into our bedroom, as she is getting too long for the bassinet but not sleeping through the night yet. This is so that we can set up the table in the 3rd bedroom for a place for Dad to study. He doesn’t like to study in the living room, because of the many distractions by the kids. But I don’t like him studying on our bed, because that interferes with my sleeping and cleaning schedules. So we’re going to do this until the end of the semester. Rebekah is a little bummed, but understands the necessity for Dad to have a quiet place to study and is okay with it.
